Mindfulness Meditation with Leigh Duffy

Mindfulness Meditation with Leigh Duffy In-Person

This is a 30-minute guided mindfulness meditation in the tradition of the eight-limbed yoga practice. In this meditation, we will focus on the limb of pratyahara - or withdrawal of the senses - in order to begin to quiet the mind and let go of distractions. This kind of exercise is useful for dealing with stress, particularly when life feels chaotic. No prior experience is required.

Leigh Duffy is assistant professor of philosophy at Buffalo State and has been teaching yoga part-time for eight years. Her recent research and teaching in philosophy has focused on yoga philosophy and the philosophical roots of mindfulness and meditation exercises. She teaches a variety of classes including "Yoga and Philosophy", "Zen Buddhism', "Mindfulness, Meditation, and Philosophy", and "The Meaning of Life".
