Card Game Series: Gin Rummy

Card Game Series: Gin Rummy In-Person

In the first “Card Games” workshop, players will learn the game of Gin Rummy (or "Gin"). The standard 2-player version of Gin entails players accumulating various card combinations called sets (3 or 4 of the same card rank, e.g. Jacks) and runs (3+ connecting cards in the same suit). Based loosely on the game of Rummy, Gin requires players to keep all 10 cards in their hand until they have “completed” their combinations and can go out. After discarding face down, the winner of the hand announces "GIN," and the other player is caught with any cards that are not part of sets or runs. The other way to win a hand, by going down, will be explained, too Arguably, Gin is one of the best card games for 2 people, and it forces you to remember what cards have been thrown while deducing what your opponent might be accumulating (and, therefore, try to avoid discarding those cards to them!)
