SUMMARY:AI Book Club and Working Group: Teaching with AI by José Antonio Bowen & C. Edward Watson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging faculty book club exploring Teaching
with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning. This timely and
accessible guide examines the transformative role of artificial
intelligence in education\, offering practical strategies for integrating
AI into your teaching practice. Topics include equity and access in
 AI-enhanced learning\, evolving assessment strategies\, fostering
creativity\, and driving innovation in an AI-powered classroom. The book
also provides insight into how faculty can streamline their workload\,
increase efficiency\, and use AI tools to support the demands of day-to-day
teaching. \n\nPlease read Chapters 1–2 in advance\, bring any generative
AI assignments you would like to share\, and join us in a collaborative
conversation about how to use AI to enhance student learning
 outcomes.\n\nDate: Tuesday\, April 29\nTime: 12:10 – 1:10 PM\nLocation:
Bacon 117 (HyFlex Room) and on Microsoft Teams\nFacilitator: Angela
Thering\, Higher Education Administration and Adult Education \n\nA limited
number of free books have been generously purchased by the Provost's Office
and are available on a first-come\, first-served basis to registered
participants at the Campus Barnes & Noble Bookstore.\n\nWhy now? We’ve
scheduled this book club late in the semester to give you time to reflect
and begin planning how to meaningfully integrate generative AI into your
teaching practice for Fall 2025.\n\nTo make the most of our April 29
meeting:\n\n\n	Bring a generative AI assignment to share or discuss if you
have one — or simply join the conversation and hear what others are
trying\n	Read & Reflect (before the meeting):\n	Please read Chapters 1–2
and consider:\n	\n How might AI enhance student engagement or reduce your
workload?\n What’s one concern or question you have about using AI in
your teaching?\n	\n	\n	Come ready to collaborate (we’ll do this
 together):\n	During the meeting\, we’ll:\n	\n Draft a Fall 2025 AI
gameplan\n Create an AI “wish list” of what you’d like to learn or
try\n	\n	\n\n\nPlease contact Angela Thering with any questions:
