Supporting Neurodiversity Across SUNY: A Systemwide Training Kickoff Event Online

As part of the 2025 State of the University Policy Agenda, SUNY is launching a new systemwide training to strengthen support for students with disabilities, with a particular focus on neurodiversity. This kickoff event will bring together faculty, staff, student leaders, and campus professionals from across the SUNY system to explore practical strategies for creating supportive learning, living, and campus environments.

The kickoff event will feature a keynote talk from Dave Thompson, Visiting Scholar and Program Manager at the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation, Vanderbilt University; Neuroinclusive Workplace Strategist; Speaker; and Author. There will also be an expert panel sharing perspectives on neurodiversity and student success in higher education.

Finally, the event will introduce the new training, “Supporting Neurodiversity Across SUNY: Practical Strategies for Our Campus Communities,” a brief self-paced online training developed by subject matter experts from across the SUNY system. Participants will leave this event with a clearer understanding of how campuses can strengthen support for neurodivergent students across SUNY.
